What is The Dentist@Orchard Smile Design ?

The Dentist@Orchard Smile Design is our procedure for transforming smiles quickly, comfortably and with the minimum of hassle. Smile Design does not involve moving of teeth, unlike braces. Using any and all aspects of dentistry, we sculpt beautiful, aesthetic smiles for our patients

Why Choose SMILE DESIGN ?

Smile Design offers a designer smile that is achievable, quickly, comfortably and with the minimum of hassle with none of the usual drawbacks of conventional braces. From the most subtle cases to the incredibly complex cases, smiles are all easily and beautifully transformed!

Aesthetic vs Cosmetic Dentistry

Aesthetic Dentistry is creating smiles that are beautiful, natural and youthful looking. It has to blend the patient’s requirements of function and health into a durable, long-lasting result! Cosmetic dentistry is used to mask or hide a defect. Observers can notice that something has been obviously altered.

The Dentist@Orchard Smile Design Your Consultation

During the consultation, Dr Kevin will discuss your problem, options and pros/limitations of each option. This allows our patients to make an informed choice! Once you have chosen Smile Design, moulds and pre-operative photographs are taken of you. On the next visit, Dr Kevin will present an initial design for your approval. With your initial approval the work starts on your teeth. After preparation of the teeth, rubber impressions are taken to manufacture the new smile. At this stage, the initial design is “mocked-up” on the patient’s teeth for them to approve.

When do you need a dental crown in Singapore?

Crowns can be used for several reasons, including:

  • Tooth restoration i.e. when the tooth is broken or there is a significant amount of tooth destruction
  • To place over an implant to restore function and appearance
  • Restoring a chipped, cracked or worn out tooth
  • Covering teeth with large fillings for cavities
  • Covering teeth that have an odd shape or colour compared to neighbouring teeth
  • Protecting your teeth from further wear and cracks which may lead to extraction
  • Supporting a dental bridge

Why go for regular check ups?

Regular dental check-ups are important as they help to ensure the health of your teeth and gums. During your dental check-up, your dentist checks your overall oral health and examines for things like decay, faulty fillings, bleeding gums and any other mouth diseases. Next, your teeth will be cleaned. Although brushing and flossing can help to remove the plaque from your teeth, it is difficult to remove tartar at home. Your dentist will use a scaler to remove the tartar.

During the checkup, your dentist may also conduct dental X-rays to detect problems which may not be obvious during the clinical examination. An X-ray can reveal:

  • Small areas of decay between the teeth
  • Location of impacted wisdom teeth
  • Presence of gum disease
  • Infections in the bone
  • Developmental abnormalities
  • Abscesses, cysts or tumours

The Dentist@Orchard Benefits of Routine Check Ups

Apart from practicing good oral hygiene, regular dental check ups are essential for early detection of any cavities and decay. Tackling the problems earlier will save a lot of hassle in the long term. It may save your tooth from extractions or root canal treatment! The scaling and polishing also services the gums, keeping them in optimum health.

How often should I go for a dental check up?

It really depends on how well you are able to maintain your oral health.

For some patients with weak gums, it may require them to come in every 3-6 months. Whereas for patients with very healthy gums that are able to brush well, they may only need to come once every 9-12 months.

Speak to your dental professional to find out your optimum service interval!
