Our facilities at Sydney Oral Facial Surgery

Located in Chatswood, our practice features modern consulting rooms and surgical suites where we offer surgery under local anesthetic and intravenous sedation. Our fully computerized suites and software include facial planning imaging software, QuickCeph, to predict outcomes in facial surgery, 3D computer planning software Nobelclinician to assess bone and plan dental implant placement that allows us to place implants utilizing a minimally invasive computer-guided technique.

Oral Surgery

Wisdom teeth can cause several problems such as infection or tooth decay that begins to affect adjacent second molars or cause the resorption of their root. Occasionally wisdom teeth develop pathology such as cysts, particularly if they are in place for many years.  Early removal of wisdom teeth is recommended to avoid such future problems and the procedure is easier with decreased surgical risk if it is carried out at a younger age. Drs Lim and Rix have vast experience in carrying out this procedure with local anesthesia alone, with the addition of intravenous sedation, or in a private hospital under general anesthesia.

Implant Surgery

A dental implant is a specially designed titanium post that is inserted into the jawbones to replace a missing tooth or teeth. For an implant to be successful it must fully integrate or fuse with the surrounding bone. The time needed for the bone to integrate with the dental implant is usually 3 months but can take 4 to 6 months if the bone is soft or bone grafts are required. We offer the replacement of all teeth with implants using a bridge or denture affixed to 4 or 6 implants, Zygomatic all-on-4 implants, and immediate loading after implant placement.

Bone grafts

Bone grafting is a very predictable and safe procedure for patients who require dental implants but who don’t have sufficient bone because of bone loss. It is better to graft and have a good base of bone to ensure the long-term success of the dental implant rather than place an implant in a compromised site.

Jaw Surgery at Sydney Oral Facial Surgery

Orthognathic surgery, also known as “Corrective Jaw Surgery”, can be performed on the upper, lower, or both jaws to correct problems with occlusion that are too severe for orthodontic correction and to achieve better facial balance. The benefits of jaw surgery include improvement of bite function, improvement of facial aesthetics, and in some instances improvement of the airway.

Digital radiographs

Digital radiographs can be taken in our consultation suites, and we are linked electronically to a 3D cone beam imaging center a short 3 min walk from our rooms.

Sydney Oral Facial Surgery Suites

Our suites have an internal oxygen supply, modern patient monitoring (blood pressure and pulse oximeter) equipment, and a fully equipped emergency trolley including a Defibrillator. Our team undergoes annual on-site and off-site emergency training and our doctors, staff, and facility are certified by the Dental Board of Australia and CREST to perform intravenous sedation in our facility.
